The 2016 Devinci Troy SX is constructed from DMC-G carbon and sports 140 millimeters of travel in the rear and 150 millimeters in the front. This trail/all mountain rig has a 67 degree headtube angle and a super short chainstay length of 16.7 inches. Devinci’s well thought out geometry and the addition of wide handlebars and a short stem make the Troy a great weapon for slaying trails.

The Devinci Troy uses a fifth generation Split-Pivot platform designed by Dave Weagle. This design allows riders to leave the shock in the open position and still maintain great pedaling performance. We found ourselves leaving the shock in the open position for just about every climb. For 2016 the Troy received a boost 148 rear hub providing the bike with excellent stiffness in the rear end. The Troy’s short chainstays combined with its stiff rear end allowed our test riders to push the Troy hard through tight corners. The Maxxis Highroller II’s also inspired us to lean the bike over a little more than normal without fear of sliding out.

The Troy uses an oblong chip in the rear suspension linkage resulting in an adjustable high and low geometry. The High geometry gives the troy a steeper head tube angle of 67.4 degrees and a higher bottom bracket height of 13.5 inches. The low geometry slackens the head tube angle to 67 degrees and lowers the bottom bracket height to 13.3 inches. Our test riders found the low setting provided the Troy with an aggressive all mountain feel while the high geometry turned the Troy into a more traditional trail bike. These settings are great for dialing in the Troy to your preferred riding style.

The Troy’s cockpit gave us nothing to complain about. Wide 780 millimeter handlebars and a short 45 millimeter stem provided our Troy with a fun and playful feel. MBA test riders enjoyed the snappy steering of the short stem and also liked the huge amount of leverage the bars had to offer. The 2016 Troy received a longer top tube over last years model but kept a comfortable amount of reach due to the shorten stem. Devinci’s house brand grips were also comfortable and the lock ons prevented any unwanted movement.

Just about everyone can agree that a Rockshox Pike is a high performing and easily tunable fork. Our test riders can set one of these forks up in minutes with a push yet climbing friendly feel. For riders less familiar to a Pike it just takes a second to spot the recommended air pressure chart on the back of the fork leg. This chart is a great baseline for finding proper sag.
